Life

Bart Moeyaert was born on 9 June 1964 in Bruges and is a Flemish writer.

He went to the St. Leocollege in Bruges to primary and secondary school. He continued his education at the Academy of Fine Arts Sint-Lucas in Ghent. He officially got his diploma as a teacher but in 1987 he started working  for the magazine “Flair”. Later,  Bart started to work for the publisher Averbode and in 1995  he became a professional writer.

Literary career

He wrote a lot of books but the first book that had been translated is “Kus me” ( translated in German “Küss mich”).

In 1995  his first picture book came out. It was called: “Afrika achter het hek”   and was illustrated by Anna Höglund, a Swedish illustrator. Bart also wrote poems in a bundle “Verzamel de liefde”. Moeyaert also wrote a (theater) play. The first one was in 1990 and it was a musical adapted from his book “Duet met valse noten”.
